North of town, SC-130 climbs toward the North Carolina line and the Bad Creek access area, a major South Carolina trailhead into the Jocassee Gorges. From the parking lot there, hikers pick up the Foothills Trail and walk to an observation deck facing Lower Whitewater Falls, a roughly 200-foot cascade.
