Paris Mountain State Park
The park at the top of the mountain was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s on land that had been the City of Greenville's water supply, and its stone bathhouse and the four lakes the CCC dammed are still the heart of it. Lake Placid is the swimming lake, the trail network climbs through hardwoods to the ridge, and the campground and picnic shelters fill on weekends. Living on the slopes means the trailheads are a few minutes away rather than a drive across town.
