Roebuck, South Carolina

Countryside living with deep roots, just south of Spartanburg.

Roebuck sits along the Highway 221 corridor just south of Spartanburg, where established neighborhoods start to give way to open countryside. It's an unincorporated community with a quieter pace, and the city's shopping, dining, and workplaces stay a short drive up the road.

History runs deep on this side of the county — Walnut Grove Plantation, one of the Upstate's oldest historic sites, calls the Roebuck area home. Buyers here find a real mix: long-established neighborhoods, newer subdivisions, and properties with genuine acreage.

Getting around

About 10 to 15 minutes to downtown Spartanburg, with Greenville roughly 45 minutes away via I-26 and I-85.

Around Roebuck

The community takes its name from Benjamin Roebuck, a militia colonel who fought at Cowpens and Musgrove Mill during the Revolution and later led his own regiment. For time outdoors, Croft State Park sits a short drive east, with more than 20 miles of trails shared by hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders, a show arena that hosts monthly horse shows, and fishing and paddling on 165-acre Lake Craig.

Interstate 26 crosses US-221 at the edge of the community, and that interchange matters more than it sounds — Columbia is a straight shot down the interstate one way and the Blue Ridge the other, with no city traffic in between. The land carries newer history too: much of the nearby Croft acreage served as Camp Croft, a World War II Army infantry training center, before the state turned it into parkland.
