Boiling Springs sits just north of Spartanburg along Highway 9, and over the past couple of decades it has grown from a rural crossroads into one of the area's busiest suburban corridors. Shopping, restaurants, and everyday errands line the highway, while neighborhoods of single-family homes spread out on the quieter roads to either side.
Lake Bowen is a short drive away for boating and fishing, and downtown Spartanburg is close enough for a weeknight dinner out. Buyers here are often drawn to the mix of newer subdivisions and country roads, with I-85 and I-26 within easy reach when they need them.

Around Boiling Springs
The name is literal. A natural spring near what is now the Highway 9 corridor once bubbled up so forcefully that early settlers said the water appeared to boil, sometimes jetting several feet into the air, and records place settlement around it as far back as the mid-1700s. The geyser quieted over the generations, but the spring site survives in a small memorial park with a historical marker, an easy stop to see where the community began.
Boiling Springs is unincorporated, so Spartanburg County handles local services rather than a town hall. The big county park here, Va-Du-Mar McMillan Park, covers the recreation side with a splash pad, disc golf, tennis and pickleball courts, playgrounds, and a paved walking trail. The University of South Carolina Upstate campus sits a few minutes down the road toward Spartanburg, adding a university presence to this side of the county.
